It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas “Tom” Cross on July 30, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born and raised in Kimberley, BC, Tom was a true Kootenay man. Although he had lived on the West Coast for many years, he always proudly called the Kootenays “God’s Country.”

Tom will be remembered as a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a cherished friend. He was a devoted dad to his daughter, Braeanne (Nick), and a very proud Papa to his grandson, Chase. Chase brought so much happiness and pride to Tom’s life, and watching their special bond grow was something truly meaningful to him. Chase will miss his Papa more than his little heart could ever express.

Tom was, in every sense, “unapologetically Tom.” He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his generosity, his stubbornness, and above all, for being a great friend to so many. He had a way of leaving an impression on everyone he met, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Teresa; his sister, Heather and nephew Matthew; his brother-in-law J.H; his niece Lindsay (Justin) and nephews Jeremy (April), Adam (Sonya) and his many family members and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Helen Cross, and his sister, Judi.

There are no words that can truly express how deeply Tom will be missed. We will miss his stories, his laughter, and his love of hockey. Most of all, we will miss having him here.

Tom may no longer be sitting around the campfire, fishing at Whiteswan Lake, or cheering on his favourite hockey team, but a part of him will always remain there—in the mountains he loved, in the memories he created, and in the hearts of those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be announced in the coming weeks. One celebration of life will be held on the Coast, with another celebration planned for Whiteswan Lake in the summer of 2027.

Until we meet again, Dad. We love you, and we will carry you with us wherever we go.
