Kootenay Rockies MLA Pete Davis this afternoon reiterated his support for the BC Conservative Party, following today’s announcement from neighbouring MLA Scott McInnis (Columbia River-Revelstoke) that he is leaving the party to sit as an independent.

McInnis cited concerns about Kerry-Lynn Findlay’s leadership as a reason for his departure.

“I joined the Conservative Party of BC to make real change for the people of this province. The mandate I received from the people of Kootenay-Rockies is clear, and I take that responsibility seriously,” MLA Davis said on social media.

“I will continue to stand with the Conservative Party of BC and the policies I campaigned on. I will stay focused on the work ahead and continue fighting every day for the people I was elected to represent.”

As of Sept. 2, seven BC Conservative Party MLAs have quit the party to serve as independents in the past three weeks.

Kerry-Lynn Findlay was elected as party leader on May 30.
