Drivers reminded that schools are open again
Elk Valley RCMP reminds everyone that schools are back in session today, Tuesday, September 8.
With school starting up again this is a reminder that school zones are active and will be enforced with the 30 km/h limit in place from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on school days.
Violation tickets for speeding in a school zone start at $196 and go up from there depending on vehicle speed.
We also want to remind you that it is an offense to pass a school bus when they are stopped with their stop sign displayed and lights flashing. The school buses have very good cameras on them that capture your licence plate so if you choose to pass a bus with its stop sign displayed you will soon be meeting one of our Elk Valley RCMP officers.
Please do your part to keep the students in our communities safe!
