Boil Water Advisory for Fairmont area properties

A Boil Water Advisory (BWA) has been issued following a water main break in Fairmont Hot Springs today (Oct. 1).

Fairmont Hot Springs Utility Ltd. (FHSUI) issued the advisory around conditions set out by Interior Health Authority.

This advisory is issued in an abundance of caution as a depressurization of a waterline can allow contaminants to enter the water supply.

The advisory only covers properties in: Mountainside Drive; Mountain Top Drive, Geary Close, Creekside Drive, Dutch Creek and Riverside Golf Course.

What you should do:

When water service is returned, running the bathtub or large water line for 10 minutes to flush your water lines.

Then until further notice:

Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute that is used for:

Drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice, preparing infant formula.

Duration:

“The BWA will be in effect until multiple water tests are completed, and the water can be confirmed as safe.

“These tests must be taken in 24-hour intervals. We will notify you once IHA allows the advisory to be lifted. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation,” FHSUI stated.
