Purcell Hockey Academy off to a great start in the Female Super League
The 2026-27 season is well underway in the Female Super League (FSL) with Purcell Hockey Academy (PHA) rostering three teams this year: one team in the 16U AAA division and two teams (Green and Gold) in the 19U AAA division.
PHA’s 16U team currently sits in third place with a 5-3 record through eight games. In the 19U division, PHA’s Green and Gold teams are at the top of the standings with the Green team leading the way with a 5-2 record and 15 points followed closely by the Gold team which remains undefeated at 5-0 and 14 points, one less than Green due to one of its wins being in a shootout.
Several players on all three teams are off to exceptional starts.
Rugile Stirnaite (Lithuania) is leading the 16U division in scoring with 13 goals and three assists for 16 points in eight games.
Yaann Yuen (Hong Kong) and Amy Leimgruber (Italy) are also in the division’s top 10 for scoring. Between the pipes, Aiden Matthews (USA) leads the division with a 0.964 Save Percentage, a 1.00 Goals Against Average, and one shutout.
In the 19U division, three PHA players are amongst the leaders in scoring.
Last year’s 16U scoring race champion, Malgorzata Zakrzewska (Poland), sits in third place with 11 goals and three assists for 14 points in six games.
Freya Ekberg (Denmark) sits in fourth with three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 7 games. And Azumi Numabe (Japan) is in fifth place with 10 goals and one assist for 11 points in five games.
