SD5 Board Notes

SD5 motions carried  

The following is a summary of School District No. 5 (SD5) school board of trustees’ motions carried during the Feb. 12 board meeting in Cranbrook.

Advocacy

That the Special Education ad hoc sub-committee be dissolved and a formal Special Education Student Services Standing Committee be formed and that “Beyond the Purpose” forms part of the Terms of Reference of the Special Education Student Services Standing Committee.

That a letter of support be written and sent to Bill Standeven, Director of Diversity, Equity and Early Learning regarding government initiatives on current funding practices for special education.

That School District No. 5 becomes a member of the East Kootenay Regional Network for Humanity.

Education/Policy

That Policy 1.4 Terms of Reference – Education/Policy Committee be renamed ‘Terms of Reference – Policy Committee’ and that Policy 1.6 Terms of Reference – Advocacy Committee’ be renamed Terms of Reference Advocacy/Education Committee’ and the wording in each policy be modified to reflect these procedural changes.

That the BAA Course – Trades Work 12 be sent to the Board of Education for approval.
