SD5 welcomes new VP to Sparwood Secondary School
Michael Kelly was recently appointed vice-principal of Sparwood Secondary School as of the 2013/14 school year by the School District No. 5 (SD5) Board of Education.
Kelly grew up in Nova Scotia and has been an educator for seven years. He has been teaching with SD5 for three and a half of those years. In addition to teaching, Kelly is on the Board of Directors for the Fernie Mountain Bike Club and is an active skier and mountain biker.
“Michael currently teaches at Elkford Secondary and is also their acting Athletic Director,” says SD5 Board chair Frank Lento. “While his experience and enthusiasm for physical education will be of great benefit to our students in Sparwood, the board is also very impressed with Michael’s passion for life-long learning and his ability to share that passion with students and staff.”
Kelly says he looks forward to working with students, staff, parents, and community members in Sparwood.
“There’s a strong community of learning and caring at Sparwood Secondary. I’m excited to be a part of that community and hope to contribute in a meaningful way.”
