December in the East Kootenay ‘13
“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before its afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?” – Dr. Seuss
Time blasts by in December for a number of reasons. It’s like all the drained sand of the previous 11 months is piled atop of the final month of the year and the weight of it forces the remaining days past like a balloon awry.
The month opened with snow and ice and then tapered off into a fairly normal December in the Rockies and Purcells of the East Kootenay. The high country got snow; the valleys were brown with lines of white and the highways were a mess at time.
Between being desk-bound for much of the month and because we actually found a few days to escape and play, I failed to get out and about the region for the first time in 2.5 years. Subsequently, all the images in this month’s collection are from Cranbrook and area.
