February in the East Kootenay
By Ian Cobb
I think it is safe to say that no one wishes to talk about February – in the East Kootenay or anywhere else in Canada for that matter.
For the shortest month of the year, it dragged endlessly on, taunting us all with its wintery guile.
So traumatized by the abnormal nature of this past February was I that I often failed to take any photos capturing its passage. Too much time was spent hunkered indoors, scowling out into the grey harrumph, cursing Old Man Winter for the swine that he has been this year.
Without further ado, here are some images that depicted the recent passing of February in our region – with images taken in: Bull River, Canal Flats, Cranbrook and area, Kimberley and area, Horsehoe Lake, Invermere, Ta Ta Creek, Fort Steele area, Wasa and Windermere.
