Sparwood Well #3 operational

The District of Sparwood is monitoring water quality on a regular basis and is now able to put Well #3 back into full operation.

This action is in accordance with the operating plan approved by Interior Health. Levels were monitored on a weekly basis until four consecutive tests yielded results below the maximum allowable concentration of 0.01 mg/L of selenium and trending indicates a general decrease in concentration.

Sparwood’s Well #3 was previously taken out of service in March due to selenium concentrations that exceeded the levels listed in the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.

The District of Sparwood continues plans to replace Well #3 with a new independent water source not influenced by mining or other activities.
