Construction is proceeding apace at the Habitat for Humanity Cranbrook Project home site. Following the approval of a building permit by the city, the site was excavated and footings, rebar and forms installed.

Thursday, May 29 saw the arrival of a Salvador Ready Mix Concrete truck and Kootenay Concrete Pumping, with crane and pumper truck, to pour the footings. Skilled volunteers were led by retired contractor Jim Bennett, and included Mike Conroy, Chris Faulkner, Jim Payne and Gord Johnston.

David and Coreena Berry and their four children will occupy the home once it is finished. The family has been involved and volunteering when possible. “Our whole family is so excited,” Coreena said. The Berrys were selected as the Habitat for Humanity partner family in March of this year.
