Fire ban on in village

Effective noon, Tuesday August 12, and until further notice, small scale burning on private property is banned within the Village of Radium Hot Springs.

Small scale burning means any burning less than one meter in diameter and one (1) meter in height, or, in the case of grass burning, less than 25 square meters in area.

Prohibited activities within the Village of Radium Hot Springs also include the following:

Backyard campfires; burning of any waste, slash or other materials; burning of stubble or grass fires of any size over any area; use of any fireworks, sky lanterns, tiki torches, chimineas or burning barrels of any size or description.

The prohibition does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus with a CSA or ULC rating that uses briquettes, liquid or gaseous fuel, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimeters. Use of a campfire apparatus that does not meet these specifications is prohibited.

This order, pursuant to Village of Radium Hot Springs Open Burning Bylaw No. 297.
