Grizzly attack survivor stable in Calgary

A 56-year-old Cranbrook man attacked by a grizzly bear on Oct. 11 and accidently shot by his hunting partner is receiving care at Calgary’s Foothill’s Hospital.

Wilf Lloyd, owner of Alpine Wildlife Design, was hunting near his property at Morrissey (west of Fernie) Saturday when a 400 pound grizzly charged and began mauling him.

His hunting partner, son-in-law Skeet Podrasky, opened fire on the bear, killing it and saving Lloyd’s life. However, one of the shots hit Lloyd in the leg.

Lloyd was airlifted to Calgary by STARS and doctors are working to save his leg. He is reported to be in stable condition.
