Firefighters save home and a cat
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services saved a city home yesterday evening, as well as a cat.
Two fire engines and 12 firefighters responded to a 6:10 p.m. fire call at 801-13th Street Nov. 8.
On arrival firefighters knocked down the fire and contained it to the kitchen area, though the home suffered smoke damage. Occupants were able to get out and while they were shaken up there were no injuries to the residents or to any of the firefighters.
Two cats were also rescued by firefighters, with one being resuscitated by an O2 Fur Life oxygen kit, thanks to a generous donation last year by the One of the Family Pet Care Centre.
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind residents not the leave the stove unattended while cooking and to ensure that you have a working smoke detector on each floor of your home.
