Boil water notice issued
Kimberley residents on the Matthew Creek Water System have been put on a boil water notice.
According to the City of Kimberley, as of today (April 23) the turbidity reading for Matthew Creek is 22.618 NTU. Water quality is considered poor when readings reach 5 NTU.
This affects the water supply for the Kimberley Golf Course, Riverside Campground, River Bend Lane, River Bend Road, River Ridge Way and Tamarack Lane areas. In accordance with Interior Health Authority’s Water Quality Notification Program, the City of Kimberley has issued the boil water notice for those areas.
Testing shows that current water quality is poor due to increased turbidity or cloudiness. Health risk increases as turbidity levels rise.
Interior Health recommends that customers drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice. Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making juice or ice or brushing teeth, should be boiled for one minute.
The city is taking additional steps to reduce risk. Interior Health has been fully involved and the public will be notified when conditions change or water quality has improved.
