Spring Honda Fun Run & Walk approaching

The Spring Honda Fun Run & Walk is less than two weeks away!

We had an awesome turnout last year with over 350 participants, and we are confident that this years’ event will be even bigger and better!

Our volunteer organizing committee – Tegan Bova, Christie Kennedy, Rhiannon Chippett and Charlotte Spring – have helped bring back this popular Cranbrook event and turned it into a 5k/10k run and 5k walk for ALS, to raise money for this important charity which has touched each of us. Last year, we ended up exceeding our expectations by raising over $8,000 going directly to the ALS Society of BC.  The success of last years’ race would not have been possible without the great participants, support of amazing volunteers, and sponsors from the community such as our title sponsor Spring Honda, which we are lucky to have working with us again this year!

The Spring Honda Fun Run will feature Official Chip Timing by Results Canada – this means each runner will get an accurate time in the race, and results will be available quicker, and also available on-line.  We have on-line registration through our website www.springhondafunrun.com, as well as paper registration forms that can be picked up at Core Fitness, Spring Honda and this week’s Kootenay Advertiser.  You can walk by donation which is new this year, for a minimum donation of $15, and receive a shirt for participation.

Registration fee is $45 for adults and $20 for students (18 & under) – these prices include an official dri-fit race shirt.  Registration fees will be increased after April 27 and will be $50 adults and $25 students but please note that race shirts will not be guaranteed if you register after this date.  There is a corporate trophy up for grabs – bragging rights so challenge your co-workers to enter.  The school with the highest percentage of participation (based on schools population) will be awarded $300 to spend as they wish – and a plaque to display.

So come on up to the College of the Rockies on Sunday, May 6 to be a part of this fun run and walk, and family event.  The race kicks off at 10am and the College track will have food vendors, music and we invite everyone to cheer on the runners and walkers and enjoy a fun day of activity for a great cause!
