SD5 Board Notes
The following is a summary of board motions carried during the May 12 School District No. 5 (SD5) board meeting held in Sparwood.
Motions Carried
ADVOCACY
That the Board support a Kootenay ICE mid-day game tentatively scheduled for February 10, 2016.
That the Board meet with MLA and all partners groups to discuss the districts’ priorities
POLICY
That the Board approve the removal of Policy 7.2 and 7.3 (accepted use of electronic communications systems in schools; 7.2 – employee, 7.3 –student).
GENERAL
That the Board allow three readings* of the Annual Facility Grant (AFG) Bylaw – Project No. 126869, in the amount of $1,171,291. AFG was carried after three readings.
* By law, three readings must be completed to carry a bylaw.
That the Board allow three readings of the RMES Capital Bylaw – Project No. 126799-A, in the amount of $4 million. The Capital Bylaw was carried after three readings.
*By law, three readings must be completed to carry a bylaw.
First and second reading* of the Annual Budget Bylaw was carried.
*By law, three readings of the Budget bylaw must be completed prior to the end of June.
