Allan “Bud” CLARKE

July 2, 1929 ~ December 8, 2019 (age 90)

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa and great grandpa, Allan (Bud) Clarke.

Bud was born to parents Audray and Isabelle Clarke in Vancouver, BC on July 2, 1929.  As a young child they moved to Nelson, BC and when he was eight years old the family moved to Trail, BC where he attended Central Elementary School, Junior High and JL Crowe High School.  Bud worked for the Forest Service and while working on the suppression crew met a young lady named Mary Gray, who became the apple of his eye. In the spring of 1951, Mary moved to Trail, BC where Bud had begun his career with the Cominco Fire Department.  They married on October 8, 1951 and had two sons and a daughter.  Bud and Mary moved to Elkford, BC in 1973 where Bud was the Fire Chief at Fording River Operations and lived there until their move to Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, BC.

Bud spent many hours bird hunting, fishing, golfing and curling through the years.  He loved camping and fishing with his grandkids and challenging them to a game of crib whenever he could. It would make his day if he could skunk them.  As the grandkids got older it became more of a challenge for him to beat them and they handed out their share of “skunks” which he always laughed & complained about.  Bud had a great sense of humour and always had a positive outlook.  His family has many wonderful, funny memories whether it be firecrackers, de-scenting skunks or exploding cigarettes just to name a few.

Bud is survived by his sons Bruce (Betti) Clarke, Ken (Rhonda) Clarke and daughter Debbie (Peter) Kliment, grandchildren Cindy (Allan) Crawford, Elizabeth (Adam) Wolfenden, Sondra (Quentin) Middleton, Allan (Rebecca) Clarke, Jesse (Alysha) Clarke, Jenna (Ian) Scott, Tania Clarke, Darcie Clarke, Erik (Kim Burton) Kliment and Kalon Kliment along with 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Bud was predeceased just four months ago by his wife of 67 years Mary whom he missed dearly, his parents Audray and Isabelle, sisters Katherine, Colleen and Joyce.

Bud will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all who knew him.  Following Bud’s wishes there will be no funeral.  A family graveside service will be held next summer in Cranbrook, BC for he & Mary where they will be together forever.
