Obituary of Carole Ella Babe Lightburn

Carole Ella Babe Lightburn

July 2, 1942  –  March 22, 2026
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Carole Lightburn on March 22, 2026. Carole passed away at home with her family by her side after a battle with cancer. Carole was born in Coleman, Alberta, and her family moved to Kimberley when the coal mines closed. She went to school in Kimberley, where she learned to play the clarinet and studied music. Carole was a strong Catholic and a member of the CWL for many years. One of Carole’s many accomplishments were climbing Fisher Peak. Her working career started as a Dental Assistant before moving on to work for the Kimberley Bulletin, and Bavarian Sports and Hardware. She also spent 37 years bookkeeping for the Kimberley Lions.

Summers were spent at White Swan fishing, then Koocanusa. Her many joys were teaching new hires working at the Bavarian, especially how to make the right change without using the machine. She also loved and enjoyed our many dogs.

Carole is survived by her husband, brother, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors.

She was predeceased by her mother Ennis, father Joe, uncle Lawrence, and auntie Bessie.

A Prayer Service will be held on Monday April 13th at 6pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kimberley, with a Funeral Mass on Tuesday April 14th at 10:30am, also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Jim McHugh officiating.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
