It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cyril Colin Kearley. Cyril passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 77, at Kimberley Special Care Home, with his family by his side.

Cyril was born and raised in Bell Island, Newfoundland, where he met his sweetheart, Linda Whalen. Their love story continued as they married in Quebec in 1972 and began building a life and family together.

Throughout the years, their life took them across Canada. Together with their children, Colin, Tracy and David, they lived in Quebec and Alberta before eventually settling in British Columbia, where they made their home and continued to create a life filled with family, hard work, and cherished memories.

Cyril was an honest, hardworking, wise, and witty man who will be remembered for his strong character and wonderful sense of humour. He had a way of making people laugh and could always be counted on for his wisdom, honesty, and quick wit. His values and work ethic were evident in everything he did.

A skilled and dedicated heavy-duty mechanic, Cyril took great pride in his work. He was hardworking and dependable, and his career reflected the determination and strong work ethic that were such an important part of who he was.

Above all else, Cyril loved his family. One of his greatest joys was travelling and exploring the world with those he loved. Throughout the years, he and his family travelled to several countries, sharing adventures, discovering new places, and creating countless memories together. These trips were filled with laughter, stories, and special moments that his family will cherish forever.

To his family, he was more than a husband and father. He was a source of wisdom and strength, someone whose presence brought comfort and whose humour brought joy. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Linda, his children, Colin, Tracy (Miles Trieber), and David (Kaleisha Hall). He was a proud grandfather to Annalisa, Austin, Olivia, and Piper, who will forever carry memories of their Papa in their hearts. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Ken (Linda Jackman) and Ray (Jean Skehans), as well as several nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Annie Kearley, and his sisters, Margaret Hammond and Linda Kearley Delahunty.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the years we had with him and for the memories we were fortunate enough to create together. From his beginnings on Bell Island, Newfoundland, to the many places he called home, and from the countries he explored with his family to the everyday moments spent together, his life was one of hard work, love, laughter, and family.

Dad, your journey may have come to an end, but your place in our hearts never will. Your honesty, wisdom, hardworking spirit, and quick wit will always be remembered. We will carry your love and the memories you shared with us wherever life takes us.

Forever loved. Deeply missed. Always remembered.

A private family service for Papa will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honour may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the nurses, caregivers, and healthcare workers at Kimberley Special Care Home who cared for our father with such compassion, kindness, dignity, and respect. We will always be grateful for the comfort and care they provided to him, and for the support they gave to our family throughout his time in their care.
