Gordon “Gord” Bruce Cumming passed away peacefully at East Kootenay Regional Hospital on August 6, 2026, at the age of 68, with family by his side.

Gord was predeceased by his parents, William and Phyllis Cumming, and his beloved dog, Molly, who was his faithful companion and held a very special place in his heart.

In 2017, Gord moved to Kimberley, BC, from Buffalo, New York. A dedicated worker throughout his life, Gord spent many years working in Human Resources, with his most recent employment being at St. Eugene Mission before his retirement.

Gord is survived by his brother, Brian (Jan); his son, Jason (Erica); Caitlin; and his grandchildren, Melody and Harmony.

Gord’s journey through life was uniquely his, and those who knew him will each carry their own memories of the time they shared with him. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain and the confusion of dementia. May the struggles of his final years be behind him, and may he rest peacefully.

Gord’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and auxiliary staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for the care and compassion they provided. Their kindness and dedication helped make Gord’s final days as comfortable and meaningful as possible.

An intimate family gathering will be held at a later date.
