Debris pile burns planned west of Field

As early as November 3, Parks Canada may use aerial ignition to burn large debris piles associated with the Boulder Creek Fireguard west of Field, conditions permitting.

Smoke may be visible from the Trans-Canada Highway, and motorists are asked to drive to conditions. Smoke may linger for several days after burning is complete.

What you need to know:

  • A helicopter will be performing aerial ignition in the area.
  • Smoke may affect visibility along the Trans-Canada Highway.
  • Motorists should be prepared for changing conditions and reduced visibility.
  • Wildfire risk reduction work, including forest thinning and small debris pile burning, will continue around Field and Yoho Ranch in Yoho National Park.
  • A debris pile at the Ottertail Pit may also be burned if conditions and resources permit.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as Parks Canada continues proactive wildfire risk reduction work to help protect communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems.
