Wildfire risk reduction work happening near Tie Lake
The Rocky Mountain Forest District’s Crown Land Wildfire Risk Reduction Program will soon begin fuel reduction work on 64.6 hectares west of Tie Lake.
This program targets areas of Crown land adjacent to communities and critical infrastructure for treatment. These treatments aim to create defensible and safe ground for suppression crews in the event of wildfire.
Project details:
• Cutting/skidding of treatment will start in November and continue throughout the winter. All activities except for hauling, pile burning, and road/landing rehabilitation are expected to be completed by spring 2027.
• Work Times: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.; work may occur on weekends/holidays.
• There will be heavy equipment working on site (feller bunchers, skidders, processors, excavators, etc.). Please respect active worksites by avoiding these areas.
