Obituary of Heather White

Heather White

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Heather White, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026 at her home in Cranbrook, BC with her three children at her side.

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Heather met her husband Donnie at a very young age and they began their lives together. They raised their family and eventually left the East Coast for the West Coast. They moved to Calgary, Alberta where they explored the big city life, and all that Southern Alberta offered. They enjoyed spending time at Heritage Park, Spruce Meadows, Drumheller, Lethbridge, Nanton, and eventually calling Glenwood one of their favourite places to spend time. The friends they made at the Glenwood Campground made a lasting impression on Heather – she considered them family. Heather and Donnie finally settled in the East Kootenays and made Cranbrook, British Columbia their home. They enjoyed the serenity of the mountains, rivers, and the wildlife. Taking a keen interest in the elk herds, they could often be spotted along the Wardner Fort Steele Rd watching for them, and later relaxing in their Hawaiian lawn chairs at Norbury Lake. Lazy drives to Creston, Invermere, and Fernie were a must, as were stops at the local hot springs. Heather felt blessed to have such wonderful friends and such beautiful places to spend time with them.

Heather was a baker for the better part of her life. She will be remembered for her delicious whoopie pies, banana bread, and cinnamon rolls. Her true passion in life was being a mother and later on becoming a “Nana”. She was an amazing mother, and always made time to listen and support her kids. She dedicated her entire life to her children & grandchildren. Much of her time in the early years was spent outdoors exploring with Donnie and the kids, and attending their various sporting events. Heather could be always be heard cheering them on and ringing her bell loudly at the ball fields, basketball courts, football fields, and lacrosse arenas. As her children grew, so did her bond with them. Heather was incredibly proud that her adult children, and adult grandchildren wanted to spend time with her. Dice poker became a family favourite, as did Scrabble. She spent countless hours with her grandsons on video chats listening to the events of their daily lives, and started to teach them family recipes and cooking skills.

In her spare time Heather was an avid crocheter with an amazing talent. She created beautiful pieces for her family, friends, and their pets. She would use her spare time & extra yarn to create teddy bears that were donated to local elementary schools for their Christmas fairs so that no child would go without. She also was a Secret Santa for a local little girl, with such a big heart. Heather was always putting others before herself. A true East Coast soul.

Heather is survived by her daughter Mandy Metza (Dan), sons Bradley White (Shelly) and Todd White (Melissa), grandsons Raeshaun Miller and Evan Grant, brothers John Holland (Kellie) and Stephen Jr. Gaudet (Tammy), her mother Hazel Gaudet, her many nieces & nephews, extended family members, her best friends Cathy & Pat, and countless other dear friends & coworkers whose lives were forever changed by knowing and loving her.

Heather was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Donnie, and her father Stephen Gaudet Sr.

Heathers children would like to thank Dr. McIvor & Nurse Sue for their compassion, gentle demeanor, and calming energy during this difficult time, and Dr. Niemand for his wonderful care of their mother.

As per Heathers request, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held.

We ask that you cherish & share your memories of her and keep her in your heart forever.
