Obituary of Janis Odamura
Janis Odamura
In loving memory of Janis Odamura, who passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born on August 30, 1949, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Janis was the daughter of Gordon and Irene Bradshaw (née Priestner).
Janis will be remembered as a loving, joyful, and spirited woman whose warmth and positivity brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her infectious laugh, adventurous energy, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone around her.
In her final years, she lived with dementia and resided in a long-term care facility in Cranbrook. As the illness progressed, she peacefully passed away in the comforts of her room.
In her younger years, she was an exceptionally talented skier, bringing skill, confidence, and a sense of adventure to every run. She was a dedicated and dependable employee who took pride in doing things well. Upon retiring, she found comfort in faith and her daily spiritual readings, tending to her flower gardens and daily walks with the loyal companionship of her dog, Cooper. Her greatest joy was her daughters and grandsons whom she spoiled and loved unconditionally.
Janis is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Tina Hlushak (née Makrigiannis), Christine Johansson (née Makrigiannis) and Cereza Odamura; and her five grandsons Adam, Kole, Owen, Isak and Rowan; her sister, Lois Gilbert (née Bradshaw); and brother Richard Bradshaw.
A private gathering will be held at a later date.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care staff at Dr. F. W. Green Memorial Home for their compassionate and invaluable care of mom.
