Obituary of Janusz Wojciech Grabowski.

JANUSZ WOJCIECH GRABOWSKI

APRIL 9, 1937 – JANUARY 20, 2022

It is with great sadness, and heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of Janusz Wojciech Grabowski.

Janusz Grabowski , age 84, died suddenly, while on vacation, on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Invermere & District Hospital, British Columbia.

A small Memorial Service was held after his cremation at Mark Memorial Community Funeral Home, Cranbrook, BC.

As per Janusz’s wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.

Janusz was born in Hrycewicze, Poland, to Konstanty Grabowski and Katarzyna (Gabryl).

He graduated in 1959, from Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland, and received his Ph.D in Theoretical and Mathematical Physic in 1964, from the same university.

After graduation, he started his professional career at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Cracow, Poland.

He came to Canada in  1970, where he obtained internships at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and at the University of Calgary. He was later employed as a senior researcher in number of companies, such as Gulf Canada Resources Ltd., Cantera Energy Ltd., Tomotechnology Inc, Teknica Petroleum Services Ltd., ARC AITF, Technology and Research Inc., and since 2011 he became an Independent Consultant.

Dr Grabowski was an author and co-author of 40 scientific publications related to oil and gas exploitation. He was an expert in numerical simulations applied to reservoir explorations, in the oil and gas industry. He also taught variety of courses at the introductory and advanced levels.

He was an international speaker, who made many dynamic presentations at scientific conferences, business and networking organizations. His work experience included Canada, Poland, USA, Indonesia, Venezuela, Trinidad, Libya, Russia, Denmark, Malaysia and Australia.

He spoke English, Polish and Russian. He was Canadian and Polish citizen.

In addition to his professional work, he had many interests; however his real passion was metaphysics and travel. He traveled to Chile, Mexico, Peru, Hawaii, Argentina, across Canada and Europe, but Poland had always been the first destination on his travel map.

He lived with passion, loved life and explored its secrets with an endless curiosity about the world, and shared his interests with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

He was a warm, joyous man,  with a positive and optimistic attitude to life, which he generously shared with others.  He was an amazing and dedicated friend to many. He will always remain in memory of his friends and of many people who had the opportunity to meet him on his life path.

He is survived by his wife, who was with him at the time of his passing. He is also survived by his daughter Ewa and grandchildren. He was also a chosen beloved member of Przybyla/Staszczyk ‘s family and will be greatly missed by Margaret , Karoline and Dominica .
