Obituary of Marie Ella Worthington

Marie Ella WORTHINGTON

July 15, 1949 ~ June 16, 2022 (age 72)

It is with tremendous sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Marie Ella Worthington (nee Domin). Marie passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Elk Valley Hospital.

Marie was predeceased by the love of her life, John, in 2002, her parents Joe and Ella Domin, in-laws John and Sybil Worthington, son-in-law Jason Wiebe, and nephew Zeke Fantuz. She is survived by her three daughters: Corlyn (Dean), Bernice (Rick), Stephanie (Darcy); six grandchildren: Anissa (Paul), Kaitlyn (Ace), Jessica (Jacob), Connor (Julie), Colton (Paris), and Maddy (Devin), and three great grandchildren: Payton, Kimber, and Haven. Marie is also survived by sisters Joanna (Walter) and Wendy, and her brother Rod (Deb) as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, her four-legged best friend Molly, and many wonderful friends.

Marie met John Worthington while in her senior year at Fernie Secondary. The outgoing, charismatic John captured her heart and the high school sweethearts married in 1968. Within a few years their family was complete with the arrival of daughters Corlyn, Bernice, and Stephanie. By 1987, the Galloway General Store, where Marie had worked as Postmaster came up for sale. The Worthington’s purchased the store, eventually settling in Jaffray where Marie remained until she retired and moved to Fernie.

Marie kept herself busy tending to her garden, sewing, searching genealogy, and was an avid reader, but her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family. She embraced those she loved most with unconditional love, strength, and guidance. Her legacy will live on forever within the hearts of all who shared in her life.

The family would like to thank Dr’s Stimson, Stuckey, and Trebble as well as the staff at the Elk Valley Hospital for the tremendous care Mom was given.
