Obituary of Marjorie Ida Mairi Ellis

Marjorie Ida Mairi Ellis

1937 – 2020

Marjorie Ida Mairi Ellis passed away June 9th, 2020 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with her loved ones by her side.

Marjorie was born on October 11, 1937 in Pioneer Mine, B.C.  Shortly thereafter the family moved to Kimberley, B.C., the place she always considered home.

Marjorie lived her life to fullest doing the things she loved. Traveling whether it be to see the world or a road trip to see her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure.

Marjorie loved to be active, from a young age she Highland danced, played on the McKim High School volleyball and basketball teams. She had a love of curling that over the years brought many great times and friends into her life.  She golfed for many years and would even joke after she retired from Cominco after 32 years, that it was her “job” to be on the golf course 4 days a week.

Marjorie loved her garden and yard and could be found out there for hours on end tending to her flowers or vegetables, which she took great pride in.

Marjorie was predeceased by her sister Betty Pat Davis, Dad Thomas “Taffy” Ellis and mother Elizabeth “Betsy” Ellis.

She is survived by her daughters Tara (Ryan) and Robyn, her beloved nephew Michael (Tracy) Davis, her sister Sheila (Knud) Larsen, grandchildren Brayden, Zakary (Lisa- Marie) Jake, Kate and Dallas as well as many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Doctor Ryan Lunge, the wonderful nurses on the third floor at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital who cared for Marjorie with care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the B.C S.P.C.A
