It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Schafer on June 8 2026 in Creston, British Columbia, at the age of 79.

Trish was the first born of six children on December 15, 1946 to Harold and Betty Nielson.

Trish was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, family member and friend who touched many lives with her unique personality, sharp wit, and caring heart. She especially cherished her family and took great joy in spending time with them.

Trish enjoyed travelling, particularly her trips to Laughlin, Nevada with her husband Ken, and crossing the border for casino adventures. Trish also loved to travel and spend time with family. One of her most cherished memories was a trip she made to Saskatoon where she spent a few weeks with her daughter. This would have been her last solo trip, later travelling with the support of the Pratt family to Dawson Creek and the Pratts summer cabin in BC.

She enjoyed being the center of attention and had a personality that could fill a room. She had a sharp ear and a quick awareness of everything happening around her, you could never whisper too close without her knowing.

She deeply loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and treasured her time with them. Family was important to her.

She enjoyed her time in the TAPS program in Creston, where she found connection, support, and enjoyment in her days. Trish also loved to travel and spend time with family.

Throughout her life, Trish faced many health challenges, beginning with her first stroke in her 40’s. Despite these struggles, she was a fighter. Her perseverance, strength, and determination allowed her to continue living fully and fighting through every obstacle she faced.

Above all Trish was deeply grateful for her relationship with God. Her faith brought her comfort and strength throughout her life, and her family takes peace in knowing she is now with her Lord and Saviour. As well as her love of her life her husband Ken Schafer.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Scott Daniels, Deborah (David) Lewendon, step children Barry (Megan)Schafer. Charlene (Doug) Vance; as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her siblings Cliff, Denise, Chris, Keith and many other extended family.
