Obituary of Randy Glen Sandberg

1960 – 2021

It is with heart felt sorrow that we mourn the passing of Randy Glen Sandberg affectionately known as “Fritz”, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Cranbrook, B.C. Fritz was born in Vernon, B.C. on April 16, 1960.

This gentle, loving, caring, wonderful man leaves behind the love of his life Grace, his sons Travis (Amy) and Joey (Joanna).  He was proud Papa to Anika, Kitra, Costen, Oscar and Owen. Fritz treasured and embraced each and every moment with them. He will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters Julie (Lincoln), Darren (Kim), Laurel (Mario), Dale (Kathy) and Darren Hopp, Grace’s siblings Bev (Wayne), Raymond (Donna), David, Gary, Gail (Cecil) and Joe as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Fritz was predeceased by his parents Glen and Selma, Grace’s parents Margaret and Rayfield Charest and his brother-in-law Randy and sister-in-law Noreen as well as his loving Grandmother Dorothy Sandberg.

Fritz was the strong foundation for his family.  He will forever be remembered for his smile, caring heart, loyalty and unconditional love.  His cheerful attitude, sense of humor and smile will be missed by everyone. He had the uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily life and his loving heart was a beacon of light. He kept us rolling in laughter because he could find humor in almost any situation. He had a lifelong affair with fishing, camping, a passion for travel, finding a “good deal” and fixing other people’s sh!t wherever life took him.

Everyone who remembers Fritz is asked to celebrate his life in their own way, raising a glass of their favorite drink or beer would be quite appropriate.  In lieu of flowers we would hope that you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in Fritz’s memory or if you choose do so, a donation in Fritz’s name can be made to:

East Kootenay Foundation for Health at 13 – 24th Avenue N., Cranbrook, B.C., V1C 3H9.

Continue to honor his legacy by living your lives to the fullest. He has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed.  Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.  His life was well lived and he was well loved.  The Lord has called him home.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Baynes Lake Community Hall Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 2 – 4 p.m.  We would love to have you join us to share in a weekend of remembrance so please save the dates June 17 – 19, 2022.  Camping will be available at the adjacent Glen Sandberg Memorial Park and the address is 468 Jaffray Baynes Lake Road, Baynes Lake, B.C.

Fritz’s families would like to take the time to thank everyone who reached out to support us with their kindness by bringing flowers, food and offering their condolences and support during this difficult time.  We feel truly blessed by everyone’s kindness.  From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every one of you.  May God bless!
