Obituary of Richard Buehler

Richard Buehler

1946 – 2022

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories we say goodbye to Rik, who passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022.

Rik was born in Abbotsford, B.C., on November 6, 1946.  Growing up on a rural property at the base of Chilliwack Mountain provided great adventures and plenty of area for him and his two brothers to explore.  He married his sweetheart Patricia McCracken in 1964.

He spent most of his working years as the owner/operator of a small business that specialized in custom heavy duty mechanical repairs.  He loved his trade.

Rik loved the outdoors, especially the mountains – hiking, fishing, hunting, camping. He also enjoyed listening to music and had a natural talent for playing the guitar and singing.  Our family times spent around the campfire singing along with Dad are memories that we treasure.  Family was his pride and joy and meant the world to him.  Dad had many varied interests that included volunteer work, coaching baseball, bowling and playing chess.

Rik’s wit, sense of humour, infectious laugh and kind, gentle nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents Wally and Emily Buehler and his brother Rod.

Rik is fondly remembered by Pat, his children, Kerry (Brad), Kurt and Amy, four grandchildren, Jarod (Sarah), Veronica, Wyatt, Savannah, and brother Wayne (Maureen), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no funeral service as per Rik’s wishes. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the third floor and palliative care team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, who helped make his last weeks more comfortable.
