Musicians connect at Kimberley Community Band Concert

By Chris Newel

On Thursday, April 17, musicians came together from the Selkirk Secondary School Band and the Kimberley Community Band at McKim Theatre.

The concert involved over 50 musicians directed by Ian Ferrie or Sven Heyde. The Community Band came on first and started with some Roger Miller classics; their set included a repertoire of Beatles tunes. Ian Ferrie pointed out it has been 50 years since over 70 million viewers watched the Beatles preform on the Ed Sullivan Show.

After a short intermission the Selkirk Band took the stage for several songs before being joined by the Community Band. The concert was a great opportunity for the musicians to connect and appreciate their respective talents.
