Red Shoes Rock Walk for FASD Awareness

Date/Time
Date(s) - 09/09/2022
8:45 am - 11:45 am

Location
Western Financial Place

Category(ies)

Community Members are invited to participate in a walk from Western Financial Place green space, through downtown, to Rotary Park for breakfast from ANKORS.
There will be prize draws for participation, wearing a costume, drawing attention and group or family participation. We will have community organization tables with information and guest speakers. Ankors is accepting any donation that will help the vulnerable population. (seasonal items, personal items, food)
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) affects more individuals than Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Down Syndrome combined, yet it is an invisible disability that is largely underdiagnosed. We want to bring awareness for the need to support the 9 months of pregnancy, and community members who are affected by FASD.
This year’s theme is ‘Building Strengths and Abilities’ we wear red as a symbol of personal power, and we will be giving out stickers to write your own superpower onto. Those stickers will then be made into a piece of artwork at Rotary Park.
