18 one-gram Baggies of cocaine seized during arrest

Kimberley/Cranbrook RCMP continued a torrid pace of drug arrests in the Central-Subregion of the East Kootenay Friday night, making their sixth notable cocaine arrest since the beginning of March.

Eighteen one-gram Baggies were seized in Kimberley on Friday night (April 26) from a male who allegedly is selling drugs.

After a lengthy investigation, Kimberley/Cranbrook RCMP officers arrested a 24-year-old Meadowbrook resident, seizing the drugs, cell phones and cash.

Charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, the subject appeared before a Judicial Justice of Peace and was released for court in Cranbrook on June 17.

He was released with $500 bail along with a number of conditions including, no go to the City of Kimberley, an 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew, and not to possess cell phones or weapons.

In a press release RCMP noted that 18 separate baggies is a “significant amount since cocaine is sold is typically sold in one or half gram quantities.”
