BC Coroners ID Fernie fire victim
The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who was found deceased following a house fire in Fernie on Feb. 12.
He was Aldo Scarpelli, aged 69, of Fernie.
About 5 p.m. on Feb. 12, neighbours heard a loud explosion and saw that the home in which Mr. Scarpelli lived in the 1300-block of 8th Ave. was on fire. The neighbours called 911, but despite extensive efforts, were unable to rescue Mr. Scarpelli. Once the Fernie Fire Department had extinguished the blaze, Mr. Scarpelli was found to be deceased.
The BC Coroners Service and Elk Valley RCMP continue to investigate this death.
