Cranbrook top municipal float in Calgary Stampede Parade

The City of Cranbrook and City of Kimberley made quite the impression in last weekend’s Calgary Stampede Parade, finishing first and third in the Municipal category.

The Calgary Stampede Parade Committee is excited to announce the following award winners from today’s parade, as selected by the Calgary Stampede Parade judges:

Best Overall:  National Music Centre.

Best Western Theme:  Ismali Muslim Community of Calgary (First Runner Up: Guns of the Golden West Association; Second Runner Up: WestJet).

Most Creative:  Parks Canada (First Runner Up: Whitefish Winter Carnival; Second Runner Up: Alberta Motor Association).

Best Corporate:  Parks Canada (First Runner Up: Alberta Motor Association; Second Runner Up: Canadian Pacific “Little General”).

Best Business / Non-Profit:  The War Amps (First Runner Up: Youth in Motion; Second Runner Up: Wood’s Homes).

Best Cultural:  Best of Mexico (First Runner Up: Korean Association; Second Runner Up: Rocky Sheep).

Best Municipal:  City of Cranbrook (First Runner Up: Westerner Park in Partnership with the City of Red Deer; Second Runner Up: City of Kimberley).

Best Horse Entry:  Steel’s Scouts Commemorative Troop Association

“Thank you to all the participants of this year’s Parade and congratulations to the award winners – we couldn’t have done it without you,” said Mayne Root, chair of the Parade Committee. “We are honored to have had these spectacular entries make this Parade one in which we will all remember for a lifetime,” he added.
