Fairmont Fire Open House this weekend
The Fairmont Hot Springs Fire Department will swing open its doors and welcome the community this weekend for an Open House.
“We will have truck rides for the kids, tours of the fire hall, equipment on display, recruiting packages, fire prevention week information and a barbecue,” explains Columbia Valley Fire & Rescue Services (CVFRS) Chief, Jim Miller. “It’s an opportunity for us to showcase the Fairmont Fire Department and hopefully encourage community members to consider joining us.”
The Open House will run Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fairmont Fire Hall.
The department will also be doing a vehicle extrication demonstration where they will cut up an old vehicle on site.
“We are excited to welcome the community and invite everyone to stop in and check out the fire hall and the services we provide,” adds Miller. “I also encourage anyone who has been thinking of becoming a volunteer firefighter to come down and visit us during the Open House. It’s a wonderful opportunity to receive specialized training, be part of a great team, and give back to your community. We are looking for more volunteers.”
There will be a barbecue throughout the Open House with hamburgers and smokies complements of the Fairmont Lodge.
