Holiday train returning to region
The 15th annual CP Holiday Train is making several stops in the East Kootenay on Tuesday, Dec. 10, spreading holiday cheer and gathering donations and support for food banks along the way.
The District of Sparwood will be its first stop at 3:35 p.m. by the Leisure Centre.
It then heads west to the City of Fernie, arriving at about 5:30 p.m., before heading to Jaffray for a 6:15p.m. stop, across from the community hall.
The Jaffray Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand to collect donations for the Food Bank (they are taken to the Cranbrook Food Bank as that is the food bank that services families in need in the South Country).
The Jaffray Community Club has organized a family dinner before the train arrives. The community club will be serving chili and a bun, homemade soup, hotdogs for the kids, fresh baked cookies, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. The hall will open at 5 p.m. ($5/person up to $20/family.)
The train makes its final stop of the day in Cranbrook – arriving at about 8:30 p.m. and stopping beside the 1400 block on Theatre Road.
The train’s first stop Dec. 11 is in Creston, at Millenium Park, across from RCMP station.
Entertainers include Matt Dusk, Doc Walker, Brothers Dube, Crystal Shawanda, Jim Cuddy and Melanie Doane.
