Former Columbia Basin Trust CEO Don Johnston was recently acclaimed as the Liberal Party of Canada’s candidate in Kootenay-Columbia.

Johnston, a Nelson-based consultant was acclaimed at a party meeting in Nelson last week, a Revelstoke Current report outlined.

Johnston’s selection brings to four the number of candidates in the running for the upcoming election. The others are incumbent MP David Wilks of the Conservative Party, Wayne Stetski of the NDP and Bill Green of the Green Party.

Johnston was CEO of the CBT from 1999 until 2005. From June 2006 until October 2008 he was CEO of the Canada World Youth organization and from October 2008 until May 2011, he was CEO of the Canadian Executive Service Organization.

There was not, as of June 3, any mention of Johnston’s acclamation on the Liberal Party of Canada riding association’s website.
