Join the discussion; forum good for voting prep

City of Cranbrook and area voters will be casting votes electronically for the first time this Nov. 15. So it is only fitting that this election also be the first one where an online discussion forum is available for voters to learn about candidates and candidates to showcase their views on issues.

This time we are presenting an online discussion forum called EK Elections 2014.

“This site is a virtual forum that is dedicated to the open and free discussions around the issues that you care about most,” explained site designed Chris Botterill, owner of Genex Marketing.

“We’re hoping candidates become involved in healthy and adult discussions about important issues leading up to the Nov. 15 election. It is vital that everyone – all voters – becomes more involved in local government, in deciding who is elected and by being as informed as possible,” said e-KNOW owner/editor Ian Cobb.

“This site will provide glimpses into the minds of candidates who are taking part in the discussions. It will also, hopefully, make it clearer to the candidates what is on their constituents’ minds. The more people there are who are engaged in the issues, the more effort people will make to vote,” he said.

In this site you will find information on candidates running for election and forums where you can start topics and reply to others.

Candidates are also free to engage in topics that matter most to them.

This is a moderated forum. That said; please use good taste in posting your topics and replies and refrain from the use of profanity.

Thus far the site is geared toward Cranbrook candidates and constituents but is open to all communities for involvement.

“This is just the start of something we believe will become an important tool for candidates and voters. We hope the public takes part. It’s straight forward and simple to use and if you have any questions, just contact us,” Cobb concluded.
