The City of Fernie is reminding residents to ensure their children stay away from snow banks.

“Tragedies can be avoided when parents and caregivers teach their children that dangerous equipment is often working in areas where the snow is stored and playing on snow banks along the roadside is very dangerous. Large equipment working in these areas may not be able to see a child crawling through snow tunnels or hiding in forts or your child may slide right into traffic on the roadway. While they look tempting, children need to know that it is not a safe place to play,” the city points out on its website.

“We all have a part in teaching our children how to PLAY SAFE!”
