Water levels on the Elk River have continued to drop today, allowing the City of Fernie to re-open James White Park.

The Town Loop trail from Park Ave. Bridge into James White Park, and the underpass trail under the West Fernie Bridge have also been re-opened, the city reported this afternoon (June 3).

The closures of low-lying areas in Annex Park are still in effect.

“We will continue to assess daily and reinstate closures if necessary,” the city said on social media.
