The committee made the recommendation following the receipt of a letter from Lorne & Adelle Dupuis outlining concerns about pedestrian safety in the vicinity of his residence on 30th Avenue S.

Rotary Way begins/ends near the intersection and crosses 30th Avenue S in a blind spot for drivers heading uphill into the city.

CIMC chair Coun. Tom Shypitka told council the current situation without traffic control “lends itself to something tragic happening one of these days. It’s a blind spot, a little bit.”

A resident living near the intersection told e-KNOW that a four-way stop “is a long time coming.”

City Corporate Services reported that it would cost $800 to place two stop signs on 30th Ave. S, as well as post temporary traffic pattern warning signs.

Council also approved a CIMC recommendation to erect a double davit (street lighting) at the corner of Victoria Avenue and 15th Street South.

According to Corporate Services the cost of installation of double davit light on Victoria Avenue will be $3,080 (including materials, labour, equipment and custom davit due to proximity to power lines).
