VW driver turns self in after leaving collision site

UPDATE: The owner of the white VW involved in a collision on Wallinger Avenue on Tuesday night has attended the Kimberley RCMP detachment. The investigation is continuing and he is facing charges under the Motor Vehicle Act, reported Kimberley RCMP Detachment Cpl. Chris Newel.

Kimberley RCMP has been searching for a white VW (likely Rabbit or Golf) after a collision Tuesday night on Wallinger Avenue.

The VW was coming down Overwaitea hill when the driver lost control; the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a Toyota Rav.

Both drivers stopped but then the driver of the white VW drove away prior to exchanging details. The grill from the VW came off in the collision and was found at the scene. The collision took place on Tuesday, February 18, around 7:30 p.m.

Police are asking for assistance in locating the vehicle involved. The VW sustained damage to the front and does not have a grill.

If anybody sees a vehicle fitting the description they are asked to contact the Kimberley RCMP at 250-427-4811, with the location and license number.

Cpl. Chris Newel,

Kimberley RCMP
