Stolen vehicle stopped with a spike belt
RCMP arrested two subjects on February 16 after stopping a stolen vehicle using a spike belt.
Elk Valley RCMP Detachment received a report of a gas theft in Sparwood around 7 p.m. A license plate number was obtained and further checks found the vehicle had been stolen from Calmar, Alberta.
The Elk Valley Detachment advised the vehicle was last seen headed west towards Cranbrook on Highway 3.
Officers successfully deployed a spike belt near the game check east of Cranbrook around 8 p.m. The vehicle was stopped and two subjects were arrested; an 18-year-old male and 15-year-old female both from Alberta. They are currently in custody and appeared before a Judicial Justice of the Peace February 17.
They are currently facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property, theft and Breach of Probation.
RCMP
