Three of six candidates participate in election questionnaire

On May 6, East Kootenay News Online Weekly (e-KNOW) presented each of the candidates in the Columbia River-Revelstoke and Kootenay East ridings with 10 questions. They were provided with a May 12 deadline to file their answers to be a part of our 2013 Election feature, published today (May 13).

Running for election in Columbia River-Revelstoke are four candidates: Conservative candidate Earl Olsen; Green Party candidate Laurel Ralston; Liberal candidate Doug Clovechok; and incumbent NDP MLA Norm Macdonald.

Running for election in Kootenay East are: Incumbent Liberal MLA Bill Bennett and NDP candidate Norma Blissett.

Three of the six candidates responded to our questionnaire: the Green Party’s Laurel Ralston and the NDP’s Norma Blissett and Norm Macdonald.

Liberal candidates Bill Bennett and Doug Clovechok this morning declined to submit answers, politely citing being too busy campaigning across their ridings, while Conservative Earl Olsen did not respond at all.

E-KNOW wanted to provide a balanced presentation of the candidates for readers to digest prior to voting tomorrow. Unfortunately, we cannot.

B.C. is currently in the throes of its 40th Provincial Election, concluding tomorrow evening (May 14).
