The City of Kimberley has issued a ‘water quality advisory’ for customers at the Kimberley Golf Course, Kimberley Riverside Campground, the River Ridge Development (adjacent to the Kimberley Riverside Campground) and Sunflower Drive as per Interior Health’s guidelines for water quality.

Recent testing shows that current water quality in Matthew Creek is fair due to increased turbidity (cloudiness). Our test readings are above one NTU and below five NTU.

During the freshet, or spring run-off, the water entering the City of Kimberley’s distribution system may be cloudy or turbid. Turbidity is a measurement of water clarity and can be an indicator of a potential health risk. Water quality is considered to be good when turbidity levels are less than one NTU, fair when between one to five NTU and poor when greater than five NTU.

Interior Health is recommending that children, the elderly and persons with weakened immune systems drink boiled water when turbidity levels are above one NTU. Furthermore, Interior Health recommends that all users boil their drinking water when turbidity levels are above five NTU.

The City of Kimberley posts turbidity levels in the water distribution system on its website daily (Monday through Friday excluding statutory holidays).
