45th Lakeside Event flies this Saturday

The 45th annual Lakeside Event is taking place this Saturday, August 7, at Invermere’s James Chabot Provincial Park beach and on Mount Swansea.

Canada’s longest running light aviation meet, launched by the late Dano Saunders, will run from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Times are not exact as pilots wait for the right conditions before launching from Mt. Swansea.

Entry fee is $50 and pilots will vie for prizes for Hang gliding and Paragliding Target Landing accuracy at the beach.

This fly-in is great fun for spectators and pilots alike. Hang gliders and Paragliders take off from Mt. Swansea and descend to targets on James Chabot beach and in the water beside the Lakeside Pub on beautiful Lake Windermere.

Not a pilot? Come watch! Relax on the beach, participate in beach-side gatherings, parties and general fun!

After the flying event there will be a dinner at the Lions Hall.

The Columbia Valley Hang Gliding and Paragliding Society welcomes you!
