Columbia Valley RCMP Report
This past week, January 8 through to January 16, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 54 calls for service. The following is a Summary of some of the file our officers responded to.
Fraudulent transaction at local resort
On January 12, Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a fraud that occurred at one of the local resorts. The resort had received a booking over the phone where the guest provided a credit card number. The same guest called back to then cancel the reservation but have the money refunded on a different credit card. The credit card company is now disputing the charge and is deemed to be a fraudulent transaction.
Road conditions a major factor in a multi-vehicle collision
In the early morning hours on January 14, Valley RCMP was dispatched to numerous reports of a multi-vehicle collision approximately 10 km north of Simpson River in Kootenay National Park. Members attended the scene and observed what appeared to be four separate collisions with about 10 vehicles involved. Thankfully there were no serious injuries reported. Road conditions were a major factor in these incidents.
Alcohol a contributing factor in minor assault
In the early morning hours on January 15, Columbia Valley RCMP was dispatched to a disturbance at a hotel where a possible domestic assault had occurred. Members attended the location and were able to locate and identify the persons involved. Evidence did suggest a minor assault had occurred; however, the victim was not cooperative with the police. The parties were separated for the remainder of the night. Alcohol was a contributing factor.
