L’il Peeps Art Show moving to Columbia Valley Centre

By Erin Knutson

Little artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the Columbia Valley Centre (CVC) this May (May 3 -31), following approval from the District of Invermere council.

“It usually runs with the Wings Over the Rockies Festival in the gallery, but that week at Pynelogs is already booked,” said Columbia Valley Arts Council (CV Arts) Executive Director Cajsa Fredin in a letter to the district.

The L’il Peeps Art show features local kids’ art for children 18 months to four years as part of an initiative on behalf of CV Arts and the daycares and preschools in Invermere.

Approximately 120 participants would be active in the show, according to Fredin, who chose the CVC based on its security and proximity to the Invermere Public Library.

“We thought this could be a fun way to do something different and have a satellite gallery event at another place in town where more people might come to see it with the library upstairs,” she said.

Mayor and council were keen on the idea, with a unanimous vote of all in favour.

“This is a great idea and a great spot to display their work,” said Mayor Al Miller.
